Karelia in the 11th century. A brutal feud between Kalervo and Untamo leads to the massacre of an entire village. A timeless, stark, black-and-white landscape, ruthless to its inhabitant, sets the stage for the cosmic pain of separation. Right at the start, Mira Luoti’s sullen modern Dulcinea announces that she has found another man, and the jilted wanderer (Toni “Protoni” Järvinen) sinks into a blurry in-between zone that rings in the ears and bends the broken mind. He finds a shellfish-allergic contract killer as his companion/squire, and it soon becomes clear that righting past wrongs will essentially be about building a new stripper pole.

The Night Thief is a warmhearted drama set in the suburbs of Helsinki, Finland. It tells the story of a Somali man, Farah, whose car starts to disappear mysteriously at night. Although the car always shows up in the morning, Farah starts to run late from work, and fears that he could lose his job. Farah’s wife is moving to Finland from Somalia and if Farah were to get fired, his wife’s residency permit would be in danger. Due to the circumstances, Farah decides to do whatever it takes to catch the thief. In the end, things take an unexpected turn when Farah finally faces the person who has been stealing his car.

Two best friends, Minna and Ina, are spending their last summer together, working as gardeners. In the night, they visit other people’s houses while the residents are sleeping. However, the summer is soon over, and in the autumn Ina will move away.

She is aided by a former genetic prodigy, journeyman bodybuilder Vili, who has lost his purpose in life. The mismatched duo have a lot to learn from each other. Before Kerttu can get into shape for the competition and Vili back on the road to life, both must grow as people and overcome steep prejudices.

In the heart of the Finnish forest, the long-closed foundry of the little town of Karkkila has come back to life thanks to director Aki Kaurismäki and his creation of the town's first cinema. The peace and calm of the little town of Karkkila, nestled deep in the Finnish forest, is interrupted by unexpected sounds. In the abandoned foundry, noisy building work is taking place. Inside the building, Aki Kaurismäki is both builder and site manager of what is soon to become the Kino Laika cinema. The creation of the cinema is the talk of the town. In the factory still in activity, in a 1960s Cadillac, in a bikers' club, in the local pub, in the woods or in Aki Kaurismäki's former editing room, people start talking about cinema again.

An comedy set in 1960s Helsinki. The story revolves around Elsa, a resolute hatmaker who is in complete control of her life. Besides running her shop, she sometimes doubles as a fortune teller. When Jan, a Czechoslovakian jazz musician and Elsa's old lover comes to town to perform at a "peace and friendship festival", her well-organised life is jolted out of balance.
