Due to an accident, Dima has been confined to a wheelchair since childhood. Despite the restrictions, he is actively engaged in creativity, writes music and receives awards. But this realization and success does not make him a happy person. One day, his mother leaves on a business trip, and Dima is left to look after his aunt Tina, young and a little frivolous. Soon, Dima's old childhood friend, Aisen, unexpectedly appears, who invites him to arrange an unforgettable weekend and promises to show Dima a real "adult life".

Yakutia, the 1930s. Old Mikipper and his wife Oppuos live their days in thick taiga. Cows, hunting, fishing make up the simple everyday life of the old people. Once early in the winter an eagle flies into their garden. The old people dare no drive it away because eagles are sacred. All through the winter they feed the bird so that it does no attack their cattle. Gradually they grow accustomed to each other. On a cold Christmas day the eagle makes its way into the house and occupies the honorary place in the corner on the shelf next to the icons. From then on the people and the bird start their life together in one house.

Yakut Stepan Beresekov periodically falls into a lethargic sleep. Only a Russian, the son of a priest, Ivan Popov, can distinguish his condition from real death. But Popov is going on a long ethnographic expedition. Stepan decides to follow his savior so as not to be buried alive.

In late nineteenth-century Yakutia, Habji and his wife Keremes have just buried their second child, and are preparing for a harsh winter of famine.
