When a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces, and one strange little girl.

The country is gradually moving away from the 90s, life is getting better and people are again attracted to the Black Sea resorts, where travelers along the way become victims of brutal murderers. In the pursuit of profit, they spare no one: neither women, nor the elderly, nor children. All attempts to get on the trail of criminals end in nothing and there is not a single serious clue in the case. At the same time, Vitaly Vitvitsky and his pregnant wife Irina Ovsyannikova go on vacation to the Crimea and themselves fall into the clutches of criminals, who turn out to be members of the "Amazon Gang", led by a certain Smallpox.

March 1944. At the front, the Red Army is conducting a confident offensive. The Allies are about to open a second front, and it seems that the final defeat of Nazi Germany is very close. The doctor launches his own investigation and finds out the dark truth behind the young woman’s death. It is the first case in a series of medical and criminal mysteries he is going to solve throughout the series. Maksimov is a talented doctor and a passionate person, but his methods are both outrageous and admirable. He keeps saving people’s lives performing the most challenging surgeries but, as it turns out, not everyone is happy about it.

Their call sign is "Cranes", but in the regiment they are affectionately called "cranes". Many consider the platoon to be "charmed", because its fighters manage to perform the most difficult tasks, take "tongues" and carry out sabotage behind enemy lines, returning even from the most disastrous situations. However, in reality, not everything is so simple: outings often end in failures, wounded and dead friends have to be borne by themselves, and each new task turns into a game with death. Their enemy is always treacherous, but resourcefulness, ingenuity and the help of friends help them not to lose faith in their cause and in victory.
