A Soviet cult cartoon, so untypical for a Western viewer, especially, a little one. A boy named Malysh ("A Little One") suffers from solitude being the youngest of the three children in a Swedish family. The acute sense of solitude makes him desperately want a dog, but before he gets one, he "invents" a friend - the very Karlson who lives upon the roof. So typical for the Russian culture spirit of mischief, which is, actually, never punished, and the notion that relative welfare not necessarily means happiness made the book by Astrid Lindgren and its TV adaptations tremendously popular in the Soviet Union and nowadays Russia and vice versa - somewhat alienated to the Western reader and viewer (see User's comments below). However, both the book and the cartoon are truly universal - entertaining and funny for the children and thought-provoking and somewhat sad for grownups.

Pirat, a dog who can read and write, keeps a journal in which he records his observations of the world. Sent to the countryside with his young master, he discovers rural life, observes the animals, and reflects on their place in nature and his own. His encounter with another dog named Pirate, chained and reduced to a utilitarian role, leads him to question the meaning of freedom and existence. Through this naive yet philosophical perspective, the film offers a bittersweet reflection on identity, happiness, and the animal condition.

A cartoon based on a fairy tale by M. Khodakov about a school of politeness and its students — a little bear, a little piglet, and a hedgehog. The little bear and the little piglet don’t want to study at all. The magpie overheard this and told them that far beyond the ravines there is a magical forest where everyone is given pink ice cream, and whoever eats it becomes polite without having to study. The little animals set off to get the ice cream, but because of their quarrel, they took different roads...
