The Friend From Springfield

After committing a murder for his lover, Gloria, the famous painter Jack is forced to go underground. In the harbor district, he saves the poor Malaysian girl Song in front of two intrusive sailors. She loves him for it, and together Song and Jack appear in the tingle dungeon of the port, he as a knife artist, she as a dancer.

Ranged across several generations, the story begins with a wealthy merchant, Lind, and his wife travelling in the coldest depths of winter to christen their baby daughter. Attacked by wolves, they lose the baby, which is found by the Lapp Jaampa (a dominating performance by Tryggve Larssen) and subsequently raised by a rich reindeer herder,

The popular Danish family are vacationing on the island of Bornholm. Unfortunately, they have not been able to get hotel rooms, but Tiny Per, always resourceful, have come up with the idea that they must sleep in a tent. Father and Uncle Anders are not quite enthusiastic about the idea, but there is nothing else to do.

The merchant Blomberg is out in the countryside with his daughters and housekeeper when the idyll is suddenly shattered. The daughters head off to have fun with two young guys from Copenhagen who are on a road trip, and the vagabonds Pat and Patachon seize the chance to interfere for their own gain. The preserved material is the original Swedish version titled 'Landsvägsriddare', translated to 'Tyvepak' in Danish. The film was a huge economic success to the then Swedish owned production company Palladium. It is the first film, in which Pat and Patachon appear as a team, although not in their final constellation: As always, Pat is played by Carl Schenstrøm, whereas Patachon is embodied by Aage Bendixen instead of Harald Madsen. There is another 'Tyvepak' from 1915, which is directed by Lau Lauritzen Sr. as well. This film is a heavily revised version of the 1915-film. (stumfilm.dk)

Shipowner Holm’s young wife Grete has a head full of romantic ideas. Holm is particularly irritated by her interest in the poet Lorens Bøllemose, who has almost moved in with the couple. With the help of a friend, he plots a shipwreck during an excursion on the Øresund. A couple are at the theatre with a playwright friend. At the end of the play the jealous husband strangles his wife to death. When the play ends, the man talks to his friend about such a nonsensical finale, telling the author that no man with any sense ever gets jealous enough to choke his wife in these modern times. The playwright decides to test this supposedly perfect couple about their happy feelings for each other.

Christmas at an old rectory in the countryside – it's Christmas! And the three student brothers, "Gamle", "Corpus Juris" and Nicolai, are delighted to receive an invitation to spend Christmas with the priest in Nøddebo. The fact that there are also a couple of young daughters in the rectory naturally makes it all even more enjoyable. It's the first time Nicolai has gone along, so he knows nothing about his older brothers' infatuation with the two girls and falls head over heels for them, assuming that they can't handle his charm either. Things don't quite go his way now, because he finds himself pursued everywhere by the anything but pretty Maldrubine, whose warmest interest is the pleasures of the table.

Mr Tipp, a landowner, is on his way to the city to have a serious word with his nephew Peter, who lives wildly beyond his means. On board the train Mr Tipp meets his childhood sweetheart, the widow Topp. His feelings are rekindled and reciprocated. Arriving in Copenhagen, the pair agree to meet again and then go home to their respective children. Mrs Topp quickly discovers that her daughter, Musse, has recently become romantically attached to someone, and so too has Mr Tipp’s nephew Peter. It all happens over two days and—naturally—and in particular—two nights. A perfectly ordinary girl gets herself into a lot of trouble because of her slightly too big heart, which exposes her to trials and temptations she cannot overcome without the help of little white lies and pretence. She manages to overcome almost all obstacles, but loses her heart.

Two rival young men both desire the merchant's pretty daughter, a bad young man robs the merchant's safe and blames it on "mother-in-law's dream", a worldly-wise grandmother directs the battle of love from her living room, and a couple of silly railway workers spread song and joy.

Ellekjær's future is on Ann-Marie's mind. She tries to get her adopted daughter, Grete, married to Erik von der Rude, but Grete loves the farmhand Jørgen. They decide to get married, after which Annemarie disowns Grete. However, Ann-Marie's other daughter, Elin, is in love with Erik. Erik's past in Copenhagen catches up with him, and Elin moves in with her sister. The film then goes through a series of complications before Elin and Erik can finally get married and Ann-Marie is reunited with her daughters.

A bunch of wagons are crossing the border. It's the Karla Circus, which, after a rough season in Germany, is gonna try its luck in Denmark. Mrs. Karla, the beloved and respected circus director, goes through passports and papers with the customs officers... everything's fine, so the circus caravan can keep going to the next town. One of the circus employees is caught harboring a vagrant in his wagon. But when it turns out that the vagrant is an excellent flute player, he becomes an asset to Circus Karla.

A poet has run out of ideas for his film script, much to the chagrin of himself and the film factory's director, Mr Meter. In a dream, the poet delivers the perfect script. (Stumfilm.dk)

Director Jessen lives with his sons Fritz and Jørgen in a country house on the coast of Øresund. One day, Jessen announces that his boss is coming to visit from Australia, and that he will bring along his daughter, Alice. Jessen further proclaims that he wants one of his sons to marry Alice. Full of prejudice against Australians, Fritz and Jørgen end up drawing lots to determine who must accept this terrible fate. Upon arriving in Denmark, Alice decides to send her friend Elsie ahead to the country house to take the measure of the two fellows and report back to her. She pretends to be Alice, and to complicate things further, Fritz and Jørgen have in the meantime hired two strange vagabonds, Pat and Patachon, to pretend to be them, hoping that this will make her turn around and leave immediately. Summer has arrived, and people are fleeing the sun-scorched, stony streets of the city. Pat and Patachon also leave the stifling streets behind to spend the summer in the countryside. Armed with a homemade camera, they hope to earn a living by taking photographs, though their efforts are not particularly successful. By chance, they come across an inn owned by the formidable Mother Hulda. She quickly sniffs out their attempt to make their escape without paying their bill, and while Patachon is forced to stay as collateral, Pat sets off to make some money. He becomes the subject of many unpleasant mishaps along the way, while Patachon is coerced into becoming engaged to Hulda and gets entangled in a conflict between Hulda, her daughter Grethe, and Grethe’s boyfriend Erik.
