Tiga Abdul (The Three Abduls) is a 1964 Malaysian comedy film directed by and starring P. Ramlee. It tells the story of three brothers who are caught in a web of trickery set by the cunning Sadiq Segaraga who uses his three daughters to fleece the three brothers of all their wealth. The movie is a tribute to traditional folktales with a moral set into the story and is set a fictional middle eastern country named Isketambola, which is loosely based on Istanbul, Turkey.

Although the film played in the form of comedy is filled with examples This film surrounds a wealthy tycoon who is addicted to horseracing and horse betting. (He lives in Holland Hill, a rich man’s enclave) The tycoon’s driver impersonates him to get hitched to his love interest. His syce at the horse stables is a friend of the driver, and he too pretends to be a doctor and falls for the lady he administers “treatment” on.

Based on a bangsawan story by stage veteran M. Babjan, ‘Mas Merah’ concerns the titular character who is daughter to a family with two feuding wives. "Anak Pontianak" aka "Son of Pontianak' in 1958 starring the Shaw studio's leading lady Hashimah Yon and its male heartthrob Jins Shamsuddin. This horror film also featured a host of supernatural beings,besides the Pontianak and her werewolf son there was also a Polong (in the film the creature was shown as a kind of Mr Hyde alter-ego of one of the characters) and a Hantu Ular (Snake Ghost).

'Sri Tanjong' tells the story of the plight of Tanjong and her younger brother Atan, who are orphaned after their mother passes away and are forced to move in with their stepfamily. During an outing to the beach, Ali falls ill suddenly, seemingly struck by a wicked spell. Keeping watch by his bedside, his wife is at a loss as he begins to tell of a long feverish dream set in a legendary (and supernatural) time and place where an unfaithful wife suffers a terrible fate. Ali then attributes his ailment to his wife and accuses her of being unfaithful to him. In order to prove her loyalty to him, the wife blinds herself with sharp object, which miraculously results in Ali’s instant recovery. However, he now abandons his sightless wife and commits adultery with a singer-artiste Dayang. As the plan proceeds, Ali’s wife and her close friend become collateral victims and are killed in a car wreck. Their spirits return to haunt the evildoers.

Omar Rojik’s ‘Batu Durhaka’ tells the story of Wira and his ultimate fate of committing disloyalty and sin towards his mother and family. He betrays Desawati's love and their consummation when he decides to return to his village, to seek vengeance against Perkasa.

The film's story revolves around the tragic love affair between Kassim Selamat, a poor musician, and Sabariah, the only daughter of a wealthy woman. The movie is notable in that the opening act starts out as a light-hearted romantic comedy, but at the 30 minute mark turns into a dramatic tragedy. Like a number of P. Ramlee's works, the film criticizes the unofficial caste system that separates the wealthy from the poor.
