Pitiful and ridiculous as he is, Utsugi is without a trace of self-pity, and his diary shines with self-effacing good humor.

Basically, all of them were designed to cater to the few who were able to give up everything else in their lives and focus on liberation, such as scholars and noblemen. In this historical and biographical drama, this is the situation that the young Shinran (1173-1263) discovered when he began exploring Buddhism as an alternative to the violence and ceaseless civil wars that racked Japan at the time.

One of Uchida’s early sound films, Unending Advance is based on a curious story by Yasujiro Ozu, in which an examination of the quotidian problems of a middle-aged salaryman and his family segues into an idyllic dream of an implausible future. Akiko divorces her husband Fujikawa due to his infidelity, and when she returns to her parents' home, she finds that her family's toy factory is in decline, and she has to work hard to rebuild it. Thanks to the mediation of Niimura, who is a close friend of her brother Shinichi and has feelings for Akiko, they are able to secure a sales contract with a foreign trading company for the toy that Shinichi invented. However, Fujikawa, who has a grudge against Akiko, begins to interfere by making cheap imitations...

Asada Keiko and Kurokawa Saburo are two young college students. When Keiko visits Saburo's house, she meets his father Kokichi and his mother Motoko.
