The story of 'Sala Budha' or 'The stupid Old man' revolves around an old village head, the Sarpanch of a village, who tries his best to take care of the subjects at any cost. The film has successfully depicted the strong relationship of the earlier days in the villages of western Odisha and the innocence, simplicity and righteousness of the Old man, who finally gets his reward from the King. He has three sons lives with their wives and two grand children in a village.Majhi lives a very happy life until an Ayurvedic Practitioner (Vaidya) comes to the village.The Vaidya is a tout, keeps an greedy eye on the lands of the locals.
The movie is based on industrialisation and subsequent displacement of Paraja tribals in Koraput district. The film deals with problems faced by the ethnic communities of Niyamgiri hills due to rampant mining and rebel activities.
Born and brought up in a tribal region of Odisha, India, 'Padmashri' 'Tulsi Munda did not allow the poverty, illiteracy and un-development of her locality to dishearten her, discourage her or dampen her spirit. She took a humble step to educate her fellow beings, which grew into a huge movement. Be it urban-rural divide or conflict of mines-owner and workers or exploitation of the have-nots by the haves, Tulsi Munda protested each and every act of injustice and discrimination and turned the tide in favor of her fellow beings.
