Kazakhstan, January 2022. Protests are shaking the entire country. Five ordinary people become caught up in these events and face difficult life choices. Their stories come together, showing how one person’s drama turns into a national tragedy.

For Mukha and Bob, childhood is over. Now they find themselves on opposite sides of the bars: one is planning an escape, while the other is forced to cover for him. The two friends must make a difficult choice between their conscience and the unwritten rules of the criminal underworld, because their decision will determine which of them walks free and which remains a prisoner of the past.

A young police officer Batyrbek fails an important operation. Without thinking for a long time, the authorities transfer him to the village as a simple district officer. Batyrbek is bored in his new place and he dreams of being transferred back to the city. But to do this, he needs to solve the crime. Coming up with different schemes, Batyrbek and his friends discover that something is really wrong in the village.

However, their desires exceed their financial capabilities, and they have to resort to tricks, including even deception, just not to lose face in front of Asyl's parents.

After her father's untimely death, Saltanat is forced to trade her idyllic countryside life for the cruel city. She has to find money to pay off the large family debt that her father left behind, in order to save her mother from jail. Friends since their village childhood, her loyal, but penniless admirer Kuandyk follows her just to make sure his sweetheart is safe. Saltanat's uncle introduces her to a possible groom, who promises to pay off her family's debts. But Saltanat's hopes are dashed, when she discovers that the men in this city don't keep their word. When Kuandyk tries to help Saltanat get the money through other ways, he ends up finding himself in more trouble than he bargained for. Although life keeps dealing them bad hands, Saltanat and Kuandyk never give up, no matter what the odds.

Adil is an assistant prosecutor, the only son in a patriarchal family. Currying favor at work in front of the boss, he "excuses" the family abuser in court - the son of a high-ranking official who beats his wife. One day, he wakes up in an alternate universe where men and women occupy opposite roles. In this world, he faces inequality and a biased attitude towards men. Adil changes his views on gender equality and decides to help a victim of domestic violence. His actions lead to his dismissal from the prosecutor's office, but he continues to fight for justice. Eventually, he decides to become an independent human rights defender.

The adventures of two old men who hitchhiked to their grandson in Europe. The young man dreamed that his grandfather and grandmother would attend his graduation. As luck would have it, the doctors forbade him to fly on a plane, but this did not stop him.

After seven years, Timur, her son, was not able to accomplish his homework assignment “to draw a family tree”. Aiganym decides to return to her parents’ house, so that her son has a big family. Together, they try to understand what really happens to love after marriage — and why feelings that once seemed “forever” столкнулись с реальностью. In their field of view are several stories: A successful manager, Zhanar, and her husband Zhandos, who has taken on the role of the keeper of the home. Karlygash, coping with her husband’s infidelity and facing a difficult choice. A young couple dreaming of having a child, but confronted with an unsolvable problem. Who will preserve their feelings, and who will decide to start over?

The film takes place in 1926 on the southern borders of Kazakhstan. An OGPU search detachment, led by an experienced commander Kasymov, is tasked with neutralizing a gang of Basmachi who have secretly crossed the border.
