The film is set in the 1970s Leningrad, Russia. Fugitive Brunov is a dangerous criminal, who escaped from jail. He is after the treasure that was hidden by him years ago at his former country-house. The film is based on history of the Russian Military garrison in Sveaborg (Suomenlinna, near Helsinki) in Finland, which was an autonomous part of Russian Empire.
