Some representatives are sent to Earth to seduce the singer and thus undermine the couple's love, but this soon leads to rebellion among the devilish emissaries, who want to emigrate.

All of a sudden they find themselves brought back 150 years earlier during the Vienna Congress of 1814-1815. Before their eyes wide open, history is in the making. Gathered around the Tsar of Russia, Alexander I, the Kings of Bavaria, Würtemberg, Prussia and Denmark, are persuaded they are building the future Europe whereas they are being manipulated by foxy Chancellor Metternich, he himself under the thumb of cynical Count Talleyrand, the French representative. All those considerations come second though to partying and social life, which is all these aristocrats really want out of this congress.

Paul is a playboy: a former girlfriend asks him to marry Zosia, a Polish girl, opponent of the regime of her country (it's 1981,December would see the state of siege in Poland and the arrest of many opponents) Paul hesitates but they told him so: it will be an unconsummated marriage and they will divorce shortly after. Against all odds, Paul, who is a happy-go-lucky guy, who does not care about politics,flies to Warsaw: Zosia is a gorgeous blonde, and during their honeymoon, he falls in love with her. But it's not that easy; back in Paris, Zosia is still a political activist whose friends look upon Paul as an intruder.

Hans Brugger, a young engineer, wants to build a ski jump in an Alpine winter sports resort. The townspeople are enthusiastic about the project, hoping it will boost tourism, and consequently donate a large portion of the necessary construction funds. Only one villager refuses to participate: the owner of the local restaurant, the “Alpenhof,” is opposed to the idea.

American billionaire George B. Stefenson is on a business trip through Europe when, due to his heavy workload, he suffers a heart attack. The doctor called to his aid, Dr. Hartung, strongly advises him to take a three-month break—in other words, to take a “vacation from himself.” After some hesitation, Stefenson agrees and also commits to funding the project, since an institution offering such a program has so far existed only as a dream in the doctor’s mind. As part of the “vacation from the self,” all participants are given a new first name and work clothes so they do not have to reveal their true identities to any of the other residents.

Postwoman Christel is engaged to detective Horst. When the dashing star trumpeter Mecky arrives in town, her love begins to waver. Christel must make a decision at the big postal parade.

Gustav Froehlich and Charlotte Susa play Rochus and Judith, the zwei menschen (two humans) of the title. Rochus' domineering mother insists that he enter the priesthood, but he is reluctant to break up his blissful romance with the fair Judith. A religious fanatic of the first order, the mother swears before God and her Church that Rochus will indeed take his vows. When this does not come about, she dies of grief, whereupon the guilt-stricken Rochus abandons Judith to become a priest. The girl subsequently commits suicide -- and it is Rochus who must officiate over her body during the funeral. This final scene was excised from the print of Zwei Menschen released in New York, leaving audiences hanging in regard to Judith's ultimate fate.

In a cosmopolitan city vaudeville theatre, meeting place of the most successful artistes, the art shooter gets in suspicion to have committed a murderous poster on his jealous partner. - Not particularly successful mixture of vaudeville theatre numbers, artiste's destiny and crime film tension, on an average produced and played. A production rotated in Budapest with the popular dancer La Jana.

A politically naive Viennese butcher manages to survive the Nazi occupation of Austria and the second world war.

Vienna, 1947. Bockerer and his wife Binerl have survived the war, though his butcher's shop was destroyed by bombs. Karl Bockerer opens up a new establishment in the center of the city. Post-war Vienna is divided into four zones in which the Allies run things and ensure that law and order prevails. This is the story of two lovers: Gustl, just returned form a POW camp, and the Russian interpreter Elena. Bockerer becomes the patron of their love. Elena's father was executed by Stalin, and the only way she can escape a similar fate is to marry an Austrian. Bockerer "buys" a husband for Elena and, full of tricks as ever, he succeeds in pulling the wool over the Russian occupier's eyes.

Shortly before the end of the war, SS officer Grohmann sinks several crates of counterfeit English money in Lake Toplitz with his comrade Kopetzky. The former Nazi used the money to build a career in business in post-war Germany. His buddy also benefits from this “new beginning”. That's when reporter Wolfgang Löhde gets on their trail...
