They have been granted deferments from the military several times, but suddenly the bell rings and they are called up as sailors in the Royal Danish Navy.

Once upon a time, large, beautiful seaside hotels adorned the coast of Øresund – from Bellevue Strandhotel in the south to Hornbæk Badehotel in the north. While the film's director, Stig Lommer, was director of the Hornbæk revues, he was a frequent guest at the bars in these hotels. He loved the glamorous life in this setting and asked Arvid Müller to write a light-hearted "Sommer-Lommer-Spøg" (Summer Joke) about the "deeds of the night" at a seaside hotel. The now defunct Beaulieu (north of Taarbæk) and Marienlyst (in Helsingør) form the backdrop for bandleader Hans Herbert and his pursuit of summer guest Mrs. Winter. This drives the exchange broker to a spontaneous suicide attempt in the middle of a mannequin show. However, he is saved by Mrs. Holgersen, who believes it is for her sake, so she blossoms completely. So much so that she is completely unrecognizable to the manufacturer when he arrives at the hotel.

A film director sends his director and two screenwriters out into the city to find out what a film should contain in order for the person in question to want to see it. This results in many different episodes. The film includes the famous scene where Dirch Passer and Kjeld Petersen wallpaper a room.

It's not always easy being a father – archivist Jørgensen knows this all too well. His only son, Bent, is more interested in the band he and his friends have formed than in his studies. One evening, as the house shakes with syncopated rhythms, the archivist loses his hard-won patience and gives his son the choice between giving up his music or moving out of the house. The next day, Bent seeks out his two friends to complain about his plight, but his friends have more than enough of their own worries, which can be summed up in one word: money.

But when their families find out Birk and Ronia have been playing together, they forbid them to see each other again. Indeed, their fathers are competing robber chieftains and bitter enemies. Now the two spunky children must try to tear down the barriers that have kept their families apart for so long.

A psychiatrist temporarily separated from her family begins to experience severe psychological distress while working at a mental hospital and returning to her childhood home. As her professional responsibilities and personal relationships intersect, she undergoes a breakdown that forces her to confront long-suppressed memories and fears. (Note: This entry refers to the 1976 theatrical feature film (approximately 135 minutes), created by condensing and re-editing the four-part Swedish television miniseries originally produced the same year.)

Nudity, explicit sex, and controversial politics kept this film from being shown in the US while its seizure by Customs was appealed.

The same movie with the same characters, cast and crew as I am Curious (Yellow), but with some different scenes and a different political slant. The political focus in Blue is personal relationships, religion, prisons and sex. Blue omits much of the class consciousness and non-violence interviews of the first version.
