Lampião, King of the Badlands

Based on the novel by Franklin Távora, the film follows the adventures of a father and a son in 18th century Brazil.

French military man Adrien Dufourquet gets an eight-day furlough to visit his fiancée, Agnès. But when he arrives in Paris, he learns that her late father's partner, museum curator Professor Catalan, has just been kidnapped by a group of Amazon tribesmen who have also stolen a priceless statue from the museum. Adrien and Agnès pursue the kidnappers to Brazil, where they learn that the statue is the key to a hidden Amazon treasure.

Zé is a very poor man whose most prized possession is his donkey. When his donkey falls terminally ill, Zé makes a promise to Saint Bárbara: If his donkey recovers, he will carry a cross - like Jesus - all the way from his city to Saint Bárbara's church, in the state capital. An evening in an old time dance hall in Sao Paulo introduces us to local characters who reminisce about the past, wonder about the future, have fun, flirt, fight and, of course, dance. Its earthy humour and eternal themes of ageing, loneliness and desire is an antidote to grumpy old men and women everywhere.

Poor people who live in the slums in Rio de Janeiro decide to occupy an empty apartment building in the rich part of the city. Meanwhile, a rich girl falls in love with a poor composer. Based on the musical play "Pobre Menina Rica", by Vinícius de Moraes and Carlos Lyra.

Diogo is a cartographer and artist who is encharged to set the new frontiers of Portuguese Colonies in South America. When he reaches the center of the continent, finds apparently nothing but wilderness and ‘uncivilized’ natives with strange ways of living. But Captain Pedro, the rude scout who guides him through the jungle, involves Diogo in an involuntary act of violence which will tie him in an unusual way to that far away country. Two dark-comedy stories involving blackmail, murder and love triangles in Rio de Janeiro

Returning to his homeland after many years away, Juvenal, an agricultural engineer with liberal ideas, finds himself caught up in the social unrest on the island of Madeira that preceded the 1974 revolution, which is condemned by his brother Álvaro, an embroidery manufacturer and staunch conservative. Exposed to the romantic schemes devised by Álvaro, Juvenal vigorously defends the exploited workers and is reunited with Elisabeth, the great love of his youth. Wounded while taking part in a popular demonstration that is violently suppressed by the police, he is sentenced to exile on the island of Sal. Elisabeth decides to accompany him, announcing that she is expecting his child... eternity!

An wealthy Italian immigrant from São Paulo, watches closely the suitors of his daughter Fiametta, whose two previous husbands "suffered accidents" because they did not bear good children. She can only get pregnant of someone who, like her, bears the blood of the rare K factor.
