Professor August Miilas has succeeded in hiding in his private house from the war. He thinks this is mainly caused by his complete devotion to science. The beautiful woman and the brave man disembark the train at the tiny station in the desert. He is the test pilot of the hypersonic nuclear-powered plane called Cyclone, and she is the physicist studying the strange phenomenon encountered by the first flier of the Cyclone jet, named Kazantsev.

The movie's opening sequence takes place in 1921, towards the end of Russia's civil war, as the Red Army are vanquishing the last Menshevik forces of the White Guard along the western frontier.

Lida Baburova, a tour guide of an architectural museum, unexpectedly receives a warrant for a two-room apartment in the new district of Zarechye, among the new settlers called "our Cheryomushki". Lida and her father go to inspect the apartment, but it turns out that it doesn't exist. The manager of the house, Barabashkin, conducted fictitious documentation, and the Baburovs' apartment merged with the neighboring one, owned by the head of the construction trust Drebednyov.

A young teacher comes to work in his native village, plans to build a new school. The arrival of the teacher causes confusion in the soul of the young neighbor Agrafena Shumilina.

In 1921. With the help of Japanese interventionists, the White Guards defeat a Shaldyba partisan detachment. The remnants of the defeated detachment pour into Levinson's detachment. Partisan intelligence soon finds that the Japanese has surrounded the detachment. To save the main forces from defeat, Levinson decides to break through the chains of enemies.

Chinese workers start a rebellion, arm themselves and take over the train on which they are travelling and manage to break through the frontier.

In parallel to this story, a plot develops about the love of the tractor driver Zosya for the forester Yanka, who unrequitedly suffers for Nadeyka.

An adaptation of Evgenii Zamiatin’s short story “The Cave,” about a musician dying of hunger in his large, unheated Petersburg apartment because he was not needed in the revolutionary city.

Central Asia during the Civil War. The Jarkent battalion of the Red Army, located in the Verny (now Alma-Ata), receives an order from Frunze to go to the Fergana region to fight the Basmachi. A group of kulaks, with the support of local merchants and beys, incites the unconscious, wavering mass of the Red Army to revolt. The anti-Soviet agitation of counter-revolutionaries, demagogically exploiting the mood of war weariness, provokes an open mutiny in the battalion.

The residents of the village of Staroje Dudino, located four kilometers west of the Soviet border, are completely dependent on the wealthy Novik, whose interests are protected by the local police and clergy. Novik is actively stirring up ethnic strife between the Jewish poor and Polish workers. During the traditional "black crown" ceremony (a wedding ceremony for an old man and an old woman), a group of factory workers led by the communist Haidul, together with the Jewish poor, attack the police and free Boris Bernstein, who had been sentenced to death.

Taken from a Lermontov play, the story begins when beautiful Nina loses a bracelet during a masked ball. A drama of pride, marital distrust, gambling, infidelity and humiliation twirls around the decaying corpse of a perverted social class.

Komsomol girl Katya Karnakova, a darling of the small provincial town Old Lopsha, is seriously smitten with a fellow Komsomol and does not even try to hide this from others. After some time as a result of their affair, she becomes pregnant.

During World War 1 a Russian soldier serves in Russian Expeditionary Force in France where he is chosen for his marksmanship and trained as a skilled sniper. After the Russian revolution the soldier returns home while his commander fights against the Soviet Russia. In 1930 the former soldier works on a factory and also he is the instructor in shooting club. Once the town that is near the Soviet border is attacked by foreign troops (the hostile state isn't named but the uniform of the soldiers resembles Finnish). The character meets againt with his former commander who serves in invading forces.

An old Tungus clan is committed to the laws of clan vengeance. Years before the October Revolution, the elder of the clan is captured and thrown into prison on false charges. After getting discharged from prison, he prepares a boy, the youngest in his clan, to become an avenger.

In the short-lived Commune of Paris, a conscripted soldier falls in love with a Communard saleswoman. As the army cracks down on the revolutionaries, the soldier is forced to fight against the Commune, and the pair's love is put to the test.

The childhood of a sixteen-year-old dreamer was spent in a shack with an always-drunk father. The only joy for the boy was walking to the pier, where he imagined himself as the captain of a brigantine sailing across the distant and mysterious sea. One night, he secretly left home and sailed away on a steamship, embarking on a journey filled with romantic and beautiful adventures. Robert and his friend Godfrey of Vaudemont, Count of Isonde, Champagne, Clervaux, and Montargis arrive at the castle. Robert is in love with Matilda, Countess of Lorraine, and wants to ask King René to break his promise. Vodemons sees the sleeping Jolanta, falls in love with her, and asks the king for his daughter's hand. Upon learning that Robert loves another, the king agrees to the wedding. The doctor's efforts are successful, the girl regains her sight and, happy, gets married.

The freedom fighters are aided by the kind Dr. Gaspar and the brave acrobat girl Suok, who has to pretend to be a doll to sneak into the palace and free Prospero.

Three pilots are best friends and good fighters. During the WWII they are taking an oath to refrain from love until the end of the War. But soon they meet three women-pilots. One by one they give up the oath, and all three fall in love.

Produced by the Soviet Union to justify its 1939-40 Winter War campaign in Finland, this outstanding documentary---more than any other such cinematic record---visually depicts the much vaunted Mannerheim Line in all its actual emplacements, as seen but two weeks after their capture, and as filmed by Red Army combat photographers onsite, directed by Vasili Belayev.

The whole world knows the immortal feat of the residents of besieged Leningrad, accomplished during the Great Patriotic War. The tragic story of the blockade, which lasted for nine hundred days and ended with the defeat of the fascists at the gates of the unconquered city, will forever remain in the history of humanity as the most vivid example of courage and patriotism.
