Kinara (Clarice Cutie), a class X high school student, dreams of becoming a skilled dancer like her mother. Meanwhile, her mother, Diah (Lilis Suganda), has had a delusional disorder since her husband left. Diah did not support Kinara's decision to become a dancer. In addition, Kinara was not very good at dancing, so she was often made fun of by her friends at the school's dance studio. A strange incident happened to him when he was on a study tour to an island. He learns an ancient dance that is forbidden because it is considered deadly. His return from the island made him a good dancer. However, it actually puts the lives of his friends and loved ones at risk.

The story begins with a newly married couple, Bima and Kanaya who occupy an auction house. Kanaya finds many strange events, events that lead to an incident that happened in the past. Once upon a time, Bima and Kanaya traveled to a village called Banyu Bening Village, a village with a thousand traditions, headed by Enggar Waluyo and having a son named Andes. Their arrival actually opened the old story of the village. A village cursed with the presence of a river demon named Buyut.

Wuri's death forced Aryan, Wuri's brother, to return to his hometown in Kulong Parigi. Nara, Wuri's friend and Aryan's girlfriend, accompanied by their two friends Baron and Alin, also joined them. Aryan and his group had to stay in the village for seven days after Wuri's death, in accordance with tradition. These seven days became a terrifying experience. Aryan and the others were haunted by a figure called Mencadin, who resembled Wuri but with a terrifying face. The villagers believed that when someone dies unnaturally, their soul returns in a different form. It is called Mencadin: a ghostly figure with a horrifying face and a strong stench of decay. Mencadin's arrival is believed to be a sign of an unsent message or an unavenged grudge.

It tells the story of a boy who ran away from home and was in an accident that caused him to lose his memory. The boy was then taken to an orphanage, but it turned out that there he was treated poorly. It was at that orphanage that he met the ghosts of lonely orphaned children; unexpectedly, that encounter marked the beginning of a friendship between a human boy and the ghosts.

The story follows Pati Amar, a young Malay man who wants to change the elders’ rules regarding education—which is considered forbidden in their village—and must face his own father’s anger. Meanwhile, Hamidah shares the same dream as Pati Amar; she wants to change the rules regarding child marriage in their village and demand gender equality, just like the heroine she idolizes, R.A. Kartini.

Pati Amar (Andika Nugraha) wants to get a proper education. Pati Amar's struggle to get an education is not easy, because Pati Bahri (Budi Semprul), his father, forbids Pati Amar and his sister Hamidah (Sephia Amanda) to go to school. Hamidah is betrothed to Aimar (Eggie Frestisio), a young and arrogant young man. Pati Amar and Hamidah's enthusiasm continues thanks to the help of their best friend Mohammad Hanan (Sultan Ghari).
