When the village’s first supermarket opens its doors in 1975, Freddy’s isolated life is turned upside down. To celebrate its opening, the supermarket organises a bicycle race of which the winner will get to meet Eddy Merckx. Freddy’s father, a fervent opponent of the supermarket, wants nothing to do with the race. Freddy enters secretly.

Captain Eksteroog and Reus capture dog Smikkel and force the children to search for the treasure. Meanwhile, Piet, Berend, Stien and Steven discover an island that is not on any of their maps. They go on an investigation and end up on the same island where Captain Eksteroog's resides! When they find the children there, they decide to help them find the treasure. But what if they find it and Captain Eksteroog still won't let them leave?

This can only be found on Oyster Island, an island inhabited by mysterious caves and carnivorous plants...

The mayor also wants the nearby gypsies to move to the designated spot, and the teacher's daughter wants more freedom. Because the doctor is the smartest person in the village, he can get everyone to do what he wants.
