On the set of Cambogia, a popular crime series filled with shootouts, explosions, and gang rivalries, something goes terribly wrong when the director calls cut. Actor Valerio De Nicolais suddenly finds himself trapped inside the violent and extremely dangerous world of the show, where prop guns fire real bullets. Meanwhile, in the real world, Tramezzino, the hapless henchman played by De Nicolais, takes his place. But, one after another, German army and Italian fascists captures the partisans and Johnny will pass the winter alone and isolated. He then finds the way to participate to one of the last attack to occupants, in fact the war will be over two months later.

The vicissitudes of this quartet intertwine with the comical interludes of a commune of hippies who live in the tunnels of the Milan subway and spend their time pulling pranks on the passers-by.
