Salem, an assistant director, believes that the famous actress Nagwa loves him. So he steals a large sum of money from the studio where he works to spend on her, and confesses his love and his crime to her. He hears her tell the producer about his crime, so he runs away and travels to Alexandria to hide with his friends, who covet the money. A fight breaks out between them and Salem, in which one of them dies, and events unfold.

Samir is deeply in love with Hanan but he is unable to reveal his impotence to her in a merciless society that sees him as less than a man. When he kills himself after their honeymoon, Hanan falls for his friend Kamal, but this relationship has its own share of struggles.
