On Wednesday 29th September 2021 - the year of the band's 20th Anniversary - Kentucky's favourite sons, Black Stone Cherry, realised their childhood dream of playing at the legendary Royal Albert Hall, London. From clubs to arenas and Festival headline performances, no one puts on the kind of show that these boys do. Hit after hit - it's all killer - the rapturous crowd roar back. Black Stone Cherry was one of the first international bands to tour the UK following the Covid19 lockdown restrictions being eased, and they gave every single fan in there that night a euphoric dose of happiness.

In sleepy Edmonton, music for high school friends Chris Robertson and Jon Lawhon was their one and only. Both come from very musical families, so it was close to the fact that the two only 16-year-old founded a band in 2001. Black Stone Cherry make traditional Southern Rock with modern elements, a sound that they master in perfection. Their current Album Family Tree is considered the best Southern Rock album of recent years. The four successful musicians from Kentucky have their Wacken premiere this year.

Formed in Kentucky by four friends at the dawn of the new millennium, Black Stone Cherry originally started playing music to escape the boredom of rural Edmonton, Kentucky. They were an instant sensation on the local rock scene and before long the hard rock quartet attracted the attention of the bigger labels. Their self-titled debut dropped in 2006 and they haven’t looked back since. BSC have been busy since their last appearance (GMM2015). Apart from ‘Black to Blues’, an EP that gives a number of blues classics a BSC makeover, there is also their 5th studio album ‘Kentucky’ (2016). Whereas Magic Mountain (2014) was somewhat heavier than its predecessors, ‘Kentucky’ is more versatile and showcases the full spectrum of Black Stone Cherry’s songwriting abilities. Their brand of hard rock is flavoured with southern rock. If you’re into no-holds-barred hard rock with heavy riffs and catchy choruses and you dig the occasional ballad, then Black Stone Cherry will do the trick.
