Adventure in Gerolstein

Aunt Ilka, who likes company, opens her house standing in the middle of a six-acre rose garden in the little town for the golden youth of the town. As a result of her benevolence, the tenants are in the position to adore not only the roses but a nice bunch of to-be-married girls of the town.

On the main square of Halmaz a naked sculpture of a boy is unveiled. The editor-in-chief of the local paper launches an attack against the scandalous implementation of "bourgeois pornography". The youth of the town, among them Ancsa, daughter of the editor decide to co-operate against the general sole-licking and prudery.

The celebrated actor considers his wife a nitwits actress of a mediocre talent. The only jacket owned by Rédey Lajos, a university student majoring in Italian language and literature, is pawned by his room-mate. The bracelet of Kitty, the daughter of general Gohrmann, which in the middle of a kiss during a lesson in Italian got accidentally unfastened, has been left in the pocket of the jacket. As a result of a still further incident, Rédey, - endeavouring to return the bracelet to Kitty - embarks upon getting the jacket back while wearing the Hungarian gala-suit owned by his landlady's elder brother. The station to which he finds his way while looking for the jacket is visited by the King of Italy, and he takes Lajos, dressed as he is in a Hungarian gala-suit, to be a Hungarian aristocrat, and Lajos must but receive His Majesty in Italian.

The film, depicting life in the tenement houses of Angyalföld in the thirties joins the neorealist currents of Hungarian film. Ambrus Pista, the good humoured, attractive tram conductor is loved by women for his excellent job as well. With his lover, the street-walker Terus they spy upon the neighbour as he beats his wife in jealousy.

The poetic love story depicting everyday life from a micro-psychological aspect takes place in the 1910s. Sándor, editor of the local paper, serves as a foot soldier on Sundays, but spends weekdays playing billiard and courting women. One Sunday afternoon - in soldier's uniform - he meets Vilma, the beautiful maid, whose honesty and chastity turns the adventure to love.

During the worldwide Depression of the 1930s, a young shopgirl is in love with a man of her own financial class, but succumbs to the seductive machinations of her wealthy boss.

Kocsis Ferenc excellent staff appointed the new director of public stores. Ilonka a talented fashion designer, Boriska a dear, Daniel, a overzealous, Klimke, a conservative sale and Glauziusz uncle, conscientious, honest book promotes the work. Ilonka initially rather just keep arguing, even though both of their lives off the job. The selfishness will love soon. Dancs Meanwhile, the old manager spreads the rumor that the new socialist trade can not meet the demand. Relatives and friends start buying into action, leading to mass hysteria. However, the new store is borne by the customer siege until the arrival of the supply.

Korin starts a television series of people in their 40s. In the afternoon just after the first section, however, he is reported to be dead as a result of a rather strange accident. Everything turns upside down.

An ambitious theatre director arrives in Gyulaháza from the capital. The aim of the young Debrődy is to shake up the locals and turn the life of the town upside down.

Az Uj Foldesur (The New Squire) was based on a novel by popular Hungarian author Maurice Jokal, whose many works had previously been largely ignored. After the wars of 1848, a retired Austrian army officer "returns to the soil" as a gentleman farmer in Hungary in the 1850s. The old campaigner is the father of two daughters: One of the girls comes to a sad end thanks to the malfeasances of a handsome spy, but the other has a happier fate when she falls in love with a Hungarian POW. The underlying theme is brotherhood, as the formerly warring Austrians and Hungarians at last find a common ground. Az Uj Foldesur was nearly twice as expensive as the average Hungarian film -- but at $40,000, its budget was a drop in the bucket compared to a typical Hollywood production.

Cabinet crisis threatens in Futbólia, due to a series of lost matches. The head of state charges admiral Duca with the task, as a last chance, to get hold of the football star of the Hungarian team presently playing in Switzerland.

Joseph II and his adjutant, Kléber travel to Transylvania in disguise.

In Ervin Lázár's story, which combines elements of fairy tale and reality, Peti moves the old lion, who goes by the name of Szigfrid Bruckner, into the abandoned barn. Peti later takes pity on the lonely lion and, with Viktor's help, sets out to free Szilvia, Szigfrid's partner, who is imprisoned in a circus. The operation is a success, but Peti's father decides to demolish the barn. Viktor and Gabriella do everything they can to stop the plan, but eventually Peti's father changes his mind and the inhabitants of the boy's imagination can live happily ever after in the abandoned barn.

A countess, paying a rare visit to her estate, clashes with the man she has hired to manage it.

A young man offers his services through a newspaper advertisement: Mr Psimth takes care of everything. A man approaches him and asks him to steal his aunt's precious brilliant necklace. Mr.Psmith arrives at the castle and realises that all the guests there want the jewels. The young man exposes the company and takes a wife instead of the necklace.

Avary, himself a hustler, is jealous of his beautiful wife. He eavesdrops to catch Vilma, his wife, having supper with a neighbour on the terrace of their manor-house. He is about to shoot at the woman, but it is him who gets shot to death.

The story recalling the spirit of Gilgamesh, the Sumerian king quarrelling with his approaching death, takes place in a cancer hospital in Budapest. Dávid, the young ethnography scientist resigned to his lot and is indifferent to his approaching death. His specialist reckons, however, that such a searching and stubborn mind with thorough knowledge of the nature of his own illness, will be able to fight death.

Vörös Hajnal (Red Dawn), a co-operative is the venue of skylarking, while the storm destroys the wheat which is to be harvested soon. Árendás, a middle-peasant, voices severe accusations against members of the co-operative: out of negligence, they failed to keep the ditches clean. It is always the soft option they seem to favour, while the necessity of properly taking care of the farmlands is long-forgotten. Members of the co-operative and the village people are deeply divided.

To complicate matters, Peggy is in love with Lancelot, but the knight's overdose of magic causes him to fall madly in love with the queen.

At Christmas Eve in 1944 the runaway Pintér and Gozsó get through the Soviet blockade around Budapest. Pintér intends to hide in a flat abandoned by his own relatives, but he finds his relatives called the Turnovszkys, who are hiding the Jewish Jutka as well. Love unfolds between Zoltán and Jutka.
