A Flood Took Wednesday

The story of a young man who took refuge in a sheikhs farm, then slandered by his wife.

Seven friends living in the same neighborhood with different aims form a gang to rob gas stations in pursuit of their shared desire for money. The film serves as a critique of the socio-economic situation of Türkiye and the approach to the "American Dream" in the period of time before May 27th.

The film tells the story of Şirvan and Ali's love affair, which is fraught with obstacles. Ali works as a tailor in the village. One day, Şirvan comes to the shop to buy fabric, and Ali and Şirvan fall in love at first sight. However, Ali and Şirvan's brother Kurtça are at odds over a debt. Kurtça plans to marry Şirvan off to his friend Zühtü to make money. For this reason, he will pressure Şirvan to stay away from Ali.

Set during the Ottoman era, the film tells the story of a young clerk living in Üsküdar with his mother. Well educated and polite, he is known by everyone simply as “Katip.” Despite graduating at the top of his class, Katip is unable to secure a government position due to the lack of political connections. Passionate about music since childhood, his beautiful singing voice captivates the women of his neighborhood, though his heart belongs only to his neighbor, Nazlı. One day, Katip’s singing earns him sudden fame that reaches the palace itself. Praised by the court, he is finally granted a clerical post in the ministry. However, when he rushes to share the good news with Nazlı, he discovers that her family has been exiled by order of the sultan. Unable to reunite with his beloved, Katip continues his rise through the ranks of public service—until one day he is summoned back to the palace, where fate awaits him once more.

Considering the conditions of the period in which it was filmed, it is a fairly realistic film. The location is not specified, but I think it is somewhere around Adana. It is a rice field where female agricultural workers are working. A ruthless landlord and a son who is just as evil as his father. One of the female workers, who stands out for her beauty (Melek Görgün), catches the attention of both the landlord and his son. She flees due to the pressure she faces, and her path crosses with that of a young man (Salih Güney) who has suffered at the hands of the landlord, had his land taken away, and lost his sister. They fall in love, and the events lead to a tragic ending. In keeping with classic Yeşilçam screenplays, you expect Salih Güney to avenge his sister's death and reunite with Melek Görgün (or for the woman to die).

The owner of the farm, Muhteem Hanim, is a widow. She wants to be with Ahmet, a handsome and young employee.

Fikret and Sezer are a happy married couple. Erdal starts to work where Sezere works. Than events develop.

During a day of deer hunting, Karaca Ali Aga (Talat Gözbak) finds a girl wandering around, and immediately falls in love with her. Some time later, when Aga goes back to marry her, he instructs his men to eliminate the obstacle, namely Halil (Yilmaz Güney)...

The film tells the story of the love triangle between Zehra, Ömer, and Meral. Zehra lost her family in a traffic accident and considers the islanders her family. Ömer, the son of Mustafa the greengrocer, is in love with Meral, the daughter of a wealthy family. However, he believes his love is impossible and wants to commit suicide. Just as he is about to jump off the cliffs into the sea after writing a letter, Zehra arrives. She tells him he must confess his love to her. Upon hearing this, Ömer speaks with Meral, and their relationship begins. Zehra, who is the greatest contributor to Ömer and Meral's happiness, ignores the desires of her own heart.
